Meet the Founder

In 1977,

Apple computers was incorporated.
Star Wars debuted.
Javier Herrero was born…

…thus answers his adventure and love for all things geeky. Born in Puerto Rico, Javier loved tinkering with electronics from an early age. And though English was his second language, four years after moving to the United States, he graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA. Graduated Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida with an electrical engineering degree in 1999 and began a successful career with companies like Nextel, LGC Wireless, AT&T, and PCTEL before eventually branching off to form his own design firm. Javier is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida, holding both an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) and a NICET IB-PSC Design certification.

While away from SmartRF, Javier prioritizes family life and a diverse range of interests. He is a First Degree Black Belt and serves as a Sensei at a local karate dojo, while also volunteering his musical talents as a percussionist at church. Recently, Javier discovered a new way to stay active and social through pickleball, a hobby he enjoys sharing with his friends and family.

Our Team

As RF Systems Specialist for SmartRF, Chris focuses on RF Designs and client communication. His responsibilities also include performing site visits, commissionings, and coding. In his role, Chris enjoys solving the unique puzzle that each project offers. Chris holds an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) and multiple NICET IB-PSC certifications. Aside from his RF expertise, Chris describes himself as a “General Geek” who enjoys projects such as 3D printed brackets and custom keyboards.

As Project Manager for SmartRF, Robert manages the creation and delivery of construction drawings. His responsibilities include maintaining and updating drafting standards, setting up and reviewing projects, and performing quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) review of construction drawings. When not on the clock, Robert collects physical media, including books, audio CDs, DVD/Blu-ray discs, as well as vintage video games and computers.

As CAD Designer for SmartRF, Grant focuses on creating AutoCAD CDs based off of iBWave designs from the RF team. Grant also assists in the building modeling process for creating the RF designs. Grant takes pride in contributing to public safety and infrastructure work where the results are tangible, and enjoys problem-solving when designs need to be adjusted or clarified. Apart from engineering, Grant enjoys playing video games, reading books, and listening to rock music.

As Administrative Assistant, Ailani supports the day-to-day business operations of SmartRF. Her responsibilities include account billing, bookkeeping, managing and updating project management tools, and supporting the company's social media presence. Ailani enjoys her diverse administrative tasks, which help ensure smooth business operations. When not working, Ailani is actively pursuing her Fine Arts Bachelor's degree and a career in Musical Theatre. She also enjoys exercising outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
